  1. They are super shots Chris, always had trouble getting close-ups of this species so really well done (with just a tinge of jealousy! :-) )Regards, Richard

  2. Ok, I'm very jealous. Been hunting these guys for some time now and just can't seem to find them.

  3. Thanks Richard, been lucky the last couple of times with this species!

Bec, always lucky to find them this time of year, as they rarely call... only the quiet little Chuckle they do when feeding! Come Spring time/breeding time they can get easier to find as they call a lot more consistently with their drawn out whistles!
I think your local Bec? I see them nearly every trip I do to Altona Landcare Reserve (there's a breeding pair in there) and another pair breed every year on the winery grounds(St Hallett)where I work. Heard them at Sandy Creek CP from time to time as well!

  4. Yeah, I'm local. I know they're meant to be at Altona, I was there very frequently in Feb/March/April looking specifically for them, but as yet just haven't had any luck at all. I'm beginning to think they're fictional, lol. Thanks for the tip regarding the calling though, at least I will know what to listen out for.

  5. Hi Chris,

Excellent photo and comments and very cute bird. I love all birds and animals. If you take a deep look you can find beauty in a crow. God did a wonderful job in filling up them with wonderful colors. Australia has wide range of wildlife and eye catching natural beauty, in our last trip to wilpena pound I saw lots of new birds, I even dont know their names.

    Love your post.

    Regards,
    Brenda.
